People who are not associated with the healthcare industry usually choose between two kinds of classes depending upon their needs.
The Heartsaver® level of classes are for persons who require certification by the American Heart Association. The classes are offered either with or without the first aid component. The certification is good for two years and is generally required for teachers, lifeguards, security guards and other occupations where the possibility of interacting with an injured person is elevated. Pediatric First Aid and CPR is ideal for au pairs, daycare workers and people who regularly interact with children.
The CPR For Friends and Family program is general instruction on how to do no-breath CPR. It’s a great primer on basic first aid for everyone from young adults to senior citizens!
